Union County Released Inmates is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody or released, release a person, accept or post bond, or retrieve an official booking or release record. Contact the government office that keeps the requested record or controls the custody decision.
Official Union County Contacts
Start with the Union County Jail when the question concerns current or last local custody. The jail information line is 865-992-6262. Ask whether Union County custody ended and whether another agency accepted custody. The official county page does not separately publish a jail street address, so do not treat a courthouse or directory address as a verified jail entrance. Call before traveling.
Union County Sheriff Records
130 Veteran’s StreetMaynardville, TN 37807
Records: 865-992-5212
Fax: 865-992-2349
The Sheriff’s Office address is the published administrative and records address. Courthouse offices are listed as open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but separate records-counter hours were not verified. Ask for the current Public Records Request Coordinator, policy, form, delivery options, and fee estimate.
For the order or judgment behind a release, contact the Union County Circuit Court Clerk at 901 Main Street, Suite 201, Maynardville, TN 37807; phone 865-992-5493; fax 865-992-8099. The office is listed as open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The clerk maintains dockets, minutes, orders, and judgments. Request the operative bond, dismissal, sentencing, probation, revocation, or expungement document rather than relying only on a portal summary.

Use TDOC’s records portal for state offender history or archived material. TDOC assesses charges after the search and does not direct requesters to prepay a fixed case price.
District 20 Community Supervision

Phone: 423-851-5282
Fax: 423-526-9882
This TDOC field office serves Union, Claiborne, and Hancock counties. It is outside Union County but is the official directory route for local parole and probation supervision. Reporting instructions are case-specific and must come from TDOC.
Choose the route that matches the record or custody system:
- For a released person or a durable local release record, begin with the Union County search and records path, then call the jail and Sheriff records.
- For community supervision, use the Parole / Probation information and the District 20 New Tazewell office.
- For a same-day event, check the Released Last 24 Hours fallback steps because no verified official browser feed was located.
- For a projected date or a custody-change alert, use Inmate Release Date or the VINELink Release Check. Tennessee VINE support is available at 888-868-4631, 24 hours a day.
- For the local facility and its release routes, see the Union County Jail page and keep the jail line separate from the Sheriff records address.
- For a current or former state felony offender, use Tennessee’s TDOC FOIL search and TDOC Records Management when a durable record is needed.
- For federal custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator. For an immigration handoff, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator; each system covers its own custodian.
Do not send sensitive identifiers through an ordinary email address unless the receiving agency confirms that channel is appropriate. If staff cannot disclose details by phone, ask for the current public-records process. A refusal or unanswered call does not prove continued custody or release.
